You can appear for the CAIIB exam up to 5 attempts within 3 years and keep the credits of your cleared paper/s for subsequent tries. However, if you exhaust all 5 attempts and the 3 years end, you’ll need to re-enroll and your previous credits will expire.
There is no exemption for compulsory CAIIB exams. However, you can choose any 1 (out of 5) of the elective papers. So, all 4 compulsory papers and 1 elective paper must be attempted and passed to get the CAIIB certification.
