Time Period Between Registration Close and First Exam
| IIBF CAIIB Time Period Between Registration & First Exam | |||
| Cycle | Registration Close | First Exam (ABM) | Gap |
| May-June 2026 | 24 March 2026 | 31 May 2026 | ~68 days |
| December 2026 | 21 September 2026 | 6 December 2026 | ~76 days |
You get roughly 10 to 11 weeks between registration close and your first paper. That is your preparation window if you start on the day registration closes.
Advantages of Early Registration
Register in the first week of the window. Three reasons:
- First-week registration incurs no late fee. Even one week later adds ₹100. Two weeks later adds ₹200.
- Portal issues and form errors have more time to be resolved.
- You get maximum preparation time after confirming your slot.
Is IIBF Membership Mandatory for CAIIB Registration?
Yes. IIBF membership is mandatory to register for CAIIB. Without a valid, active membership number, you cannot submit the CAIIB application form.
The registration form requires your membership credentials at the very first step.
Click on the link to apply for the “Ordinary Membership Registration.”
Is IIBF Membership One-Time?
Yes. IIBF membership is typically a one-time registration. Once enrolled, you get a unique membership number that is used for JAIIB, CAIIB, and all other IIBF exams.
However, membership can become inactive if:
- You resign from the bank.
- Your membership subscription (annual fees) falls into arrears.
- Your bank loses its IIBF institutional membership.
If any of these happen, your membership becomes inactive and you cannot register for CAIIB.
What is the CAIIB Membership Subscription Fee?
The Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF) does not charge any recurring monthly or annual subscription fees for its ordinary membership. Instead, it uses a one-time Life Membership structure.
Once you enroll and pay this fee, your membership remains active for your entire career without any need to pay again.
The exact fee details depend entirely on where you are applying from:
- For Candidates in India: ₹1,770 (This includes a base fee of ₹1,500 plus 18% GST of ₹270).
- For Overseas Candidates: US $150.
Important Note: If you registered as an IIBF member in the year 2000 or later, you are automatically registered as a Life Member. Only old members who enrolled before 1999 (under the old annual system) need to pay the same ₹1,770 fee to renew and convert their account into a permanent Life Membership.
How Long Does it Take to Get the Membership Number?
Your membership number is typically generated immediately after successful payment. It is emailed to your registered email ID.
If the number is not received within 24 hours, contact the IIBF helpdesk.
Most bankers get their membership number assigned by their bank’s HR or training department. Check with your bank before going through individual registration.

What if You Forgot Your IIBF Membership Number or Password?
Your membership number is on your JAIIB result certificate or scorecard. It was also emailed to your registered email when you first enrolled.
Check your inbox with the search term “IIBF membership” or “IIBF registration.”
If not found, contact your bank’s HR or training department. Many banks maintain records of employee IIBF membership numbers.
If you forgot your password, use the “Forgot Password” option on the IIBF login page. An OTP or reset link is sent to your registered mobile or email.
What is the CAIIB Registration Fees?
- Candidates can pay CAIIB application fees online with a debit card, credit card, net banking, UPI, Wallet, etc.
- The CAIIB registration fees structure varies depending on the number of attempts.
The application fees for CAIIB registration are given in the table below.
| CAIIB 2026 Application Fee | |
| CAIIB Attempts | Normal Examination Fee |
| 1st Attempt Fee | ₹ 5000/- |
| 2nd Attempt Fee | ₹ 1300/- |
| 3rd Attempt Fee | ₹ 1300/- |
| 4th Attempt Fee | ₹ 1300/- |
| 5th Attempt Fee | ₹ 1300/- |
Important Note: There is an additional fee, which varies depending on the week you complete your CAIIB registration.
- 1 to 7 Sept. 2026: You need to pay only the normal examination fee (as mentioned above) based on your attempt.
- 8 to 14 Sept. 2026: You need to pay the normal examination fee + ₹ 100.
- 15 to 21 Sept. 2026: You need to pay the normal examination fee + ₹ 200.
What if CAIIB Registration Payment Fails?
If your payment fails but the amount is deducted from your account:
- Do not pay again immediately.
- Wait 3 to 5 working days. Most failed payments auto-reverse.
- If not reversed, contact your bank with the transaction reference number.
- If the IIBF portal shows registration as incomplete but bank confirms deduction, email IIBF at care@iibf.org.in with your membership number, transaction ID, and screenshot.
Do not submit a second payment without confirming the status of the first. Duplicate payments complicate things significantly.
Is the Fee Refunded if You Do Not Appear?
No. The CAIIB registration fee is non-refundable under all circumstances. This includes:
- Not appearing for the exam on exam day.
- Medical emergency or illness.
- Bank transfer or job change during the cycle.
- Any other personal reason.
This is why you should register only when you are genuinely committed to appearing.
Is There an Offline Payment Option?
No. CAIIB fee payment is online-only. IIBF does not accept demand drafts, cash deposits, or challan-based payments for CAIIB registration.
Is CAIIB Registration Recommended on Mobile or Computer?
Use a desktop or laptop. IIBF’s portal is functional on mobile browsers but is not optimised for them.
Here’s what is inconvenient with mobile registration:
- File upload (photo, signature) often fails or produces errors on mobile browsers
- Payment gateway redirects can behave differently on mobile
- Session timeouts happen more frequently on mobile
If you only have mobile access, use Chrome. Do not use in-app browsers from WhatsApp or email links. Open Chrome directly, type the IIBF URL, and proceed.
Even then, download your registration confirmation immediately after payment. Do not depend on re-downloading it later on mobile.
Does IIBF Provide a Correction Window After CAIIB Registration?
No, IIBF does not provide any correction window after you complete your CAIIB registration.
Once you submit your application form and successfully pay the registration fee, the system locks your details. You cannot modify any fields online through your dashboard.
Because there is no edit window, you must be extremely cautious during the IIBF CAIIB registration process.
Is Clearing JAIIB Compulsory Before CAIIB?
Yes. Clearing JAIIB is compulsory before CAIIB.
Once your JAIIB pass status is updated on your IIBF dashboard, the system unlocks your access to register for CAIIB.
If JAIIB is not cleared, the CAIIB application option simply does not appear on your dashboard.
Can You Register for CAIIB immediately After Passing JAIIB?
Yes. As soon as your JAIIB result is updated on your IIBF dashboard, you can register for CAIIB in the next available cycle.
There is no mandatory waiting period between JAIIB and CAIIB.
CAIIB Registration Eligibility: Who Can and Cannot Register?
To be eligible for CAIIB 2026, you must be an ordinary member of IIBF. In simple terms:
- You must be currently working in banking or financial services.
- Your organisation must be an institutional member of IIBF.
- You must have cleared JAIIB.
- Your IIBF membership subscription must be active.
Eligibility depends on the institution’s membership status, not on whether the bank is public or private.
Can Clerks Apply for IIBF CAIIB?
Both officers and clerical staff are eligible. There is no designation-based distinction. Any employee of an IIBF member institution who has cleared JAIIB can register.
Can Private Bank Employees Apply for IIBF CAIIB?
Yes. Private bank employees are eligible, provided their bank is an institutional member of IIBF.
Most major private banks (HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and others) are IIBF members. If you are in a smaller private bank, confirm with your HR whether your institution is an IIBF member.
Can RRB Employees Apply for CAIIB?
Yes. Regional Rural Banks are covered under the IIBF membership umbrella.
RRB employees are eligible to register for both JAIIB and CAIIB.
Can Cooperative Bank Employees Apply for CAIIB?
Yes, but with a condition. The cooperative bank must be an institutional member of IIBF. Not all cooperative banks hold this membership.
Confirm your bank’s IIBF membership status with your HR team before applying.
Can a Foreign Bank Employee in India Apply for CAIIB?
Yes. Foreign banks operating in India, as IIBF member institutions, allow their Indian employees to appear for CAIIB. Your physical location or citizenship does not matter.
The only deciding factor is whether your current employer bank is a registered institutional member of the IIBF Council.
Can Newly Joined Bank Employees Apply for CAIIB?
You can register for CAIIB as soon as you have cleared JAIIB. There is no minimum service period required.
However, practically, newly joined employees would first need to clear JAIIB (which itself takes time), so CAIIB registration would follow naturally after that.
Can Retired Bank Employees Also Apply for CAIIB?
No. CAIIB eligibility is not valid after retirement or resignation from a bank. CAIIB exam eligibility is checked at the time of registration.
To apply, you must be currently employed at an IIBF member institution. Retirement breaks the employment link and, therefore, the eligibility condition.
Can Non-Bankers Register for CAIIB Exam?
Not eligible. CAIIB is exclusively for serving members of IIBF-affiliated institutions.
Non-bankers can appear for JAIIB’s equivalent: DBF (Diploma in Banking and Finance). After clearing DBF, they can apply for CAIIB once they join an IIBF member bank.

Do You Re-Register for Every CAIIB Exam Attempt?
Yes. You must apply separately for each CAIIB attempt. CAIIB Registration is required for every exam cycle you wish to participate in. Fee is paid for each attempt.
Your existing IIBF membership is reused. You do not create a new account. Just log in with the same membership number and apply for the papers you need.
CAIIB Registration 2026: How to Apply for CAIIB Second Attempt?
- Applying for a second attempt at the CAIIB exam is similar to the initial application process.
- You need to follow the regular CAIIB registration steps as mentioned above.
- Please note that the fee structure for the second attempt differs from the first. While the initial attempt typically costs ₹5000, the fee for a second attempt is ₹1300.
Can You Register for CAIIB for Only Selected Papers?
Yes. You do not need to register for all 5 papers in every cycle.
If you have already cleared ABM and BFM in a previous attempt, you register only for the remaining papers (ABFM, BRBL, Elective) in the next cycle.
You pay the re-attempt fee (₹1,300) for whichever papers you are attempting.
Can You Register for Only Compulsory Papers Without the Elective?
Yes. If you are clearing the compulsory papers first and plan to take the elective later, you can register for only ABM, BFM, ABFM, and BRBL in one cycle and the elective in the next.
Your attempt count and validity continue normally.
Can You Change the Elective After CAIIB Registration?
No, you cannot change your elective paper for the current exam cycle once you have completed your CAIIB registration and paid the fee.
The Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF) locks all choices, including your center, shift, and elective subject, the moment the payment is successfully processed.
No online edit or official correction window is provided to modify these fields after submission.
Can You Choose a Different Elective Subject in the Next CAIIB Exam Attempt?
Yes. If you fail your chosen elective, you can select a different elective in the next attempt.
You are not permanently locked to your first elective choice. This flexibility is available within your allowed attempts.
How Many Papers Can You Register For in One Cycle?
You can register for any combination of papers, from 1 to all 5. There is no minimum or maximum per cycle.
However, practically, attempting too many papers in one cycle without adequate preparation reduces your chance of clearing all of them.
How is CAIIB Exam Centre & Shift Selected?
During registration, you choose your preferred exam centre city. IIBF then allocates a specific test centre within that city based on availability and candidate volume.
Your exact test centre address appears on your admit card, which is released 10 to 15 days before the exam.
What if Your Preferred CAIIB Exam Centre is Unavailable?
IIBF allocates the nearest available centre. If a particular city has no available slot, the system assigns the closest alternative.
You are not notified in advance. The allocated centre is mentioned on the admit card.
Can You Change the Exam Centre After CAIIB Registration?
Not possible. Once registration is submitted, centre changes are not allowed. The allocated centre on your CAIIB admit card is final.
Can You Choose Your Preferred CAIIB Exam Shift?
No. Shifts are assigned by IIBF based on your exam centre capacity and candidate volume. You cannot choose morning or afternoon.
The shift is mentioned on your admit card.

How Do You Know if CAIIB Registration is Successful?
After completing payment:
- The IIBF portal displays a “Registration Successful” confirmation on screen.
- An email confirmation is sent to your registered email ID.
- An SMS is sent to your registered mobile number.
Can You Download the Submitted CAIIB Application?
Yes. Log in to your IIBF profile and go to your current registration. The confirmation receipt is available for download.
Save it in at least two places, your device and cloud storage.
Can You Submit Multiple CAIIB Applications?
No. IIBF does not permit multiple registrations for the same exam cycle. Each membership number can have only one active CAIIB registration per cycle.
What Happens if Duplicate CAIIB Applications Are Submitted?
If a technical error causes a duplicate submission, contact the IIBF helpdesk immediately.
Duplicate registrations can cause payment conflicts and may result in one application being cancelled.
Can You Withdraw a CAIIB Application After Registration?
No. There is no withdrawal facility for CAIIB registration. Once registered and paid, the attempt is registered.
The fee is non-refundable and the attempt count is incremented.
What are the Common CAIIB Registration Problems and Portal Issues?
