Question Format

• All questions are objective type with multiple-choice answers. 
• The question paper is bilingual and available in both English and Hindi. 
• The English Language section is the only exception which is in English only.

Exam Interface

• There is no sectional timing in the UPSC EPFO PA Recruitment Test. 
• You get a total of 2 hours to attempt all 300 questions across all sections. 
• You can move between sections freely within the allotted time.

Negative Marking

The UPSC EPFO PA Recruitment Test has negative marking.

• 1/3rd of the marks assigned to a question are deducted for every wrong answer.
• If you leave a question unattempted, no marks are deducted.
• This makes blind guessing a risk. Attempt a question only when you are reasonably confident.

EPFO PA Skill Test Pattern

The Skill Test is the second and final stage of the UPSC EPFO Personal Assistant exam pattern. It tests yourstenography speed and transcription accuracy.

• Candidates who fail to qualify for the Skill Test are not considered for final selection.
• Marks scored in the Skill Test are not added to your Recruitment Test score.
• The qualifying standard may be relaxed at the discretion of UPSC for candidates who are otherwise well qualified, with reasons recorded in writing.

Final Selection Process

Once you clear both stages, here is how final selection works:

• Final merit is based entirely on marks scored in the Recruitment Test (300 marks).
• Candidates who qualify the Skill Test are ranked in order of RT merit, category-wise.
• Document verification is done after the final merit list.

There is no interview for the EPFO Personal Assistant post. The Recruitment Test score is the only deciding factor.

How is the UPSC EPFO PA Exam Conducted?

The UPSC EPFO PA Recruitment Test is a pen-and-paper-based offline exam.

Exam Shifts

The Recruitment Test is conducted in a single shift across all exam centres on the same day. 

In the 2024 cycle, the exam was held on 7 July 2024 across 80 centres in one shift.

However, UPSC reserves the right to conduct the exam in multiple sessions if required due to:

• High number of candidates at a centre.
• Technical disruption at any centre.
• Any other administrative reason.

Normalization

If the exam is held in more than one session, scores are equated across sessions using standard moderation process. 

This ensures fairness when different sets of question papers are used across sessions.

• Normalization applies only if multiple sessions are conducted.
• In a single-session exam, raw scores are used directly for merit calculation.

How Difficult is the UPSC EPFO PA Exam?

The UPSC EPFO PA Recruitment Test is moderate in difficulty overall. 

The exam does not have very high difficulty questions.
