Topic Covered: Quote by Rabindranath Tagore

Start!

Are you waiting for someone to shout that out loud for you to take that one step?

Do you think you’ll receive a message on your mobile that the conditions are now perfect for you to begin?

No right?

You very well know that no intimation is coming and it’s YOU who is stopping yourself.

Well consider this a reminder to begin.

Our inaction and overthinking often keeps us from reaching our true potential.

The more we look at the task that lies ahead, the bigger and deadlier it becomes.

How do you think it becomes easy?

By taking action, plain and simple.

There is no rocket science.

Everyone who has achieved something in life has done it by taking action.

They all started by taking small baby steps, then came the giant leaps.

It is never a day’s task. Afterall, Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Meaning of the Quote

This quote by the Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore talks about the importance of taking action to move ahead in life.

We often have big dreams and wishes for our future. But when the time comes to achieve them, not all are willing to work for the same.

The waters ahead may look deep and overwhelming but remember,

“A ship in a harbour is safe but that is not what ships are built for.”

To realize the dreams you have for yourself, it is important to come out of that comfort zone and face those obstacles.

What’s Stopping You?

You must be thinking, yes, I already know this, what’s new?

Great! If you already know this, it is wonderful news because “A problem well-stated is half-solved.”

But have you asked yourself what’s stopping you to take that step?

Is it the fear of failure?

Do you feel overwhelmed?

Is it the habit of perfectionism?

Or you simply don’t feel ready?

Whatever it is, no one can identify and name it for you, better that you can do it for yourself.

Ask yourself and be brutally honest when you do that.

How to take that step?

The steps mentioned below can give you the nudge and bring you out of your comfort zone:

  1. Defining your ‘Why’
  • Define clearly why you have chosen this path, and why you are taking this exam. The clarity of this ‘Why’ will reflect directly in your determination to achieve the goal.
  1. Setting small goals
  • Give your mind small targets as it is already getting overwhelmed looking at big ones. Complete multiple small tasks in a day and give yourself a pat on the back.
  1. Rewarding yourself (even for small wins)
  • Celebrate each win, however small it may be. It could be anything like chocolate, a break from studies, or time to do your favourite activity. These rewards or treats to yourself will make you look forward to studying and achieving those small goals.
  1. Have an Accountability Partner
  • Have a friend or another aspirant who is preparing for the same exam to become your accountability partner. Accountability partners keep each other motivated and on track in this long and tedious journey.

Keep Moving

Many times, in the middle of the sea (your preparation) what will keep you afloat is how connected you are to your ‘WHY’. Being clear on why you started and how clearly you can visualize the other side (your GOAL) will be your biggest motivators throughout your journey.

If I could give you just one advice, it would be to get out of your mind and TAKE ACTION. Because no change has ever come from sitting and DREAMING about it.
