Is IIBF Membership Mandatory for JAIIB Registration?

IIBF membership and JAIIB registration are two separate processes. Membership is a one-time enrolment.

Employees enrolled from 2000 onwards are automatically life members under the Ordinary Membership category. JAIIB registration is done separately for each exam cycle.

Can You Register for Selected JAIIB Papers Only?

No. Candidates cannot choose only specific papers while registering for JAIIB for the first time. JAIIB registration is done for the complete exam, which includes all compulsory papers.

However, if a candidate has already cleared some papers in earlier attempts, those papers remain valid within the allowed 3-year or 5-attempt limit set by IIBF.

In the next attempt, the candidate only needs to appear for the remaining uncleared papers.

For example:

  • A candidate clears PPB and RBWM in the first attempt
  • But does not clear AFM and IE & IFS

In the next cycle, the candidate only needs to appear for AFM and IE & IFS, since the previously cleared papers are already carried forward.

How to Confirm Whether Your JAIIB Registration is Successful?

After completing payment, IIBF sends a confirmation to the registered email ID and mobile number.

Registration status can also be verified by logging into the IIBF portal and checking the examination section of the candidate’s profile.

If the confirmation email does not arrive within 24 hours, check the spam folder. For unresolved issues, contact the relevant IIBF zonal office.

Can You Select Your Preferred Exam Center?

Yes. Candidates can select their preferred exam city while filling out the JAIIB application form. During registration, IIBF provides a list of available exam centres from which candidates can choose their preferred location.

However, the final allotment depends on seat availability at that centre. If seats in the selected city are full, IIBF may allot a nearby or alternate exam centre. This is why candidates are generally advised to complete their registration early, especially in major cities where slots fill quickly.

Also, once the registration process is completed, requests for exam centre changes are usually not entertained by IIBF.

What to Do if You Forget Your IIBF login details?

If you forget your IIBF login details, you can recover them through the official IIBF login portal. Candidates can use the “Forgot Password” or “Forgot Membership Number” option available on the website.

To recover the account:

  1. Visit the official IIBF login page.
  2. Click on “Forgot Password” or “Forgot Membership Number”.
  3. Enter your registered email ID, mobile number or membership number.
  4. Complete the verification process using OTP or captcha.
  5. Reset your password or retrieve your membership details.

Candidates should always use the same mobile number and email ID that were used during IIBF registration.

If the registered details are inaccessible, candidates may need to contact IIBF support for further assistance.

Can You Edit the Form After Submission?

In most cases, IIBF does not allow candidates to edit major details in the JAIIB application form after final submission. This includes details such as name, exam centre, uploaded photograph, signature, or selected papers.

Therefore, candidates should carefully review all information before submitting the form and making the payment.

However, if there is a genuine mistake, candidates can try contacting IIBF support immediately through the official helpdesk or email.

Minor corrections may sometimes be considered on a case-by-case basis, but there is no guaranteed correction window officially provided for JAIIB registrations.

This is why candidates are advised to:

  • Check spelling carefully
  • Verify uploaded documents
  • Confirm exam city selection
  • Use active email ID and mobile number

before clicking the final submit button.

Do You Need to Register Again for Every Attempt?

Yes. Candidates need to register again for every JAIIB attempt or exam cycle.

Even if a candidate has appeared earlier, a fresh exam registration and fee payment are required for the next attempt.

However, candidates do not lose the papers they have already cleared. Under the carry-forward rule, passed papers remain valid within the allowed 3-year or 5-attempt limit prescribed by IIBF.

In the next attempt, candidates only need to appear for the remaining uncleared papers.

Can You Register for JAIIB via Mobile?

There is no dedicated mobile app for JAIIB registration. The process must be completed through the IIBF website.

The website is accessible via a mobile browser, but a laptop or desktop is recommended for a smoother registration experience, particularly for uploading documents and reviewing form details before submission.

Does IIBF Provide Books After Registration?

IIBF does not provide textbooks upon registration. Study material needs to be purchased separately.

What is the JAIIB Application Fee 2026?

  • The exam fee structure varies as per the number of attempts.
  • You can pay this online with a debit card, credit card, net banking, UPI, Wallet, etc.

The table below lists the JAIIB application fee for each attempt:

JAIIB Registration
Application Fees
AttemptsNormal Examination Fee
JAIIB 1st Attempt Fee₹ 4000/-
JAIIB 2nd Attempt Fee₹ 1300/-
JAIIB 3rd Attempt Fee₹ 1300/-
JAIIB 4th Attempt Fee₹ 1300/-
JAIIB 5th Attempt Fee₹ 1300/-

Important Note: There is an additional fee, which varies depending on the week you complete your registration.

  • 1st Week of JAIIB Registration: You need to pay only the normal examination fee (as mentioned above) based on your attempt.
  • 2nd Week of JAIIB Registration: You must pay the normal examination fee + ₹ 100.
  • 3rd Week of JAIIB Registration: You must pay the normal examination fee + ₹ 200.

What Payment Methods are Accepted during Registration?

Fee can be paid online using net banking, credit card, debit card, UPI, or other available modes on the portal.

What if JAIIB Fee Payment Fails?

If the payment fails but the amount is debited, do not attempt a fresh payment immediately.

Wait 48 to 72 hours. Most banks auto-reverse failed transactions.

If the amount is not refunded, contact your bank with the transaction reference number and simultaneously raise the issue with IIBF’s examination helpdesk.

Do Banks Reimburse JAIIB Fees?

No. Banks generally do not reimburse JAIIB registration fees.

The main benefit of clearing JAIIB is the salary increment and career growth opportunities provided after qualification. Candidates usually have to bear the exam registration cost themselves.

Will Your Registration Fee be Refunded if You do Not Appear?

No. The JAIIB registration fee is generally not refunded if a candidate does not appear for the exam.

Once the application form is submitted and the fee is paid, IIBF does not refund the exam fee.

Therefore, you are advised to carefully check the exam schedule and complete the registration only when you are reasonably sure of appearing for the examination.

Can a non-banker apply for JAIIB?

Yes, non-bankers can apply for the DB&F (Diploma in Banking and Finance) exam conducted by Indian Institute of Banking and Finance.

DB&F was introduced mainly for:

  • fresh graduates,
  • banking aspirants,
  • and candidates who are not yet working in banks.

After joining a bank, candidates who clear DB&F can later convert it into a JAIIB certificate.

DBF is open to anyone who has passed Class 12 or equivalent.

What Conditions are Required for DB&F Conversion into JAIIB Certificate?

A DB&F certificate can be converted into JAIIB only when the candidate joins a bank or financial institution that is a member of Indian Institute of Banking and Finance and becomes an ordinary member of IIBF.

The main conditions are:

  • The candidate must have completed DB&F before joining the bank, or cleared one or more DB&F papers before joining.
  • After joining the bank, the candidate must take ordinary membership of IIBF.
  • The candidate must apply for DB&F to JAIIB conversion through the official IIBF process.
  • A conversion fee of ₹1000 + GST is generally applicable.
  • The conversion or credit transfer is allowed only within the applicable time-limit and attempt rules of IIBF.

However, candidates who joined a bank first and then appeared for DB&F are generally not eligible for conversion.

In such cases, IIBF may even cancel the DB&F result/certificate because bank employees are expected to appear directly for JAIIB instead of DB&F.

Can Newly Selected or Newly Joined Candidates Apply for JAIIB?

Yes. Newly joined bank employees can apply for JAIIB if they are working in a bank or financial institution that is a member of IIBF and have completed the required membership process.

However, candidates who are only selected through exams like IBPS PO or RRB PO but have not officially joined the bank yet are generally not eligible for JAIIB registration.

This is because IIBF membership usually requires proof of employment such as:

  • appointment letter,
  • employee ID,
  • joining proof,
  • or HR verification.

Does Bank Approval Matter for JAIIB Registration?

No formal NOC from the bank is required for JAIIB registration. The process is between the candidate and IIBF directly.

The bank must, however, be an institutional member of IIBF, as IIBF verifies employer membership during the registration process.

Candidates need valid employment proof during IIBF membership registration, such as:

  • employee ID,
  • appointment letter,
  • joining letter,
  • or HR-issued proof.

So while formal permission or approval from the bank is not mandatory, employment verification does matter for eligibility and membership purposes.

JAIIB Exam Centres 2026

The exam will be held at multiple centers across India and one in Dubai.

Common Mistakes to Avoid During JAIIB Registration

  • Uploading unclear or incorrectly sized photos and signatures. IIBF rejects applications with unclear images.
  • Entering the wrong bank name or employee details. These are difficult to correct after submission.
  • Registering in the third week and paying Rs. 200 extra, when registration in week one carries no additional charge.
  • Using the office email ID or office mobile number during registration. Personal contact details ensure portal access is retained after a job change.
  • Waiting until the final day to register. Portal congestion is highest on the last day, and payment failures are more common then.
  • Not verifying registration status after payment. Always check the IIBF portal login to confirm the registration is complete before assuming payment went through.
