• Age for the NABARD Grade A 2026 exam is calculated as of the 1st of the month in which the notification is released.
• The minimum and maximum age limits for the unreserved or general category is 21 years and 30 years, respectively.
• If you’re from a reserved category, NABARD offers age relaxations in the upper age limit.

Do You Need a Certificate to Avail NABARD Grade A Age Relaxation?

Yes. To avail NABARD Grade A age relaxation under any reserved category, you must possess the relevant category certificate in the prescribed format.

  • The prescribed format for each category certificate is provided in the Annexures at the end of the official NABARD Grade A notification.
• When Do You Need to Submit the Category Certificate?
  • You are required to produce the original category certificate during the NABARD Assistant Manager interview stage for document verification. NABARD verifies your age, educational qualification, category, and other eligibility conditions only at this stage.

What Are the Conditions to Avail OBC Age Relaxation in NABARD Grade A?

To avail OBC age relaxation in the NABARD Grade A exam, you must belong to the OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) category and possess a valid certificate in the prescribed format.

The certificate must be:

• Issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format.
• Based on your family’s income to establish your Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) status.
• Issued on or after 1 April of the notification year and before the closing date of NABARD Assistant Manager applications.

Important: Candidates belonging to the OBC Creamy Layer are treated as General (Unreserved) candidates. They are not eligible to claim OBC reservation or OBC age relaxation.

How Can You Check Whether You Belong to the OBC Creamy Layer or Non-Creamy Layer?

Your OBC Creamy Layer or Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) status is determined primarily by your parents’ occupation and family income.

• If your family’s annual income is more than ₹8 lakh, you generally fall under the Creamy Layer and are not eligible to claim OBC reservation benefits.
• If your family’s annual income is ₹8 lakh or less, you are generally considered part of the OBC Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) and are eligible for OBC reservation benefits.

What Is the Validity of an OBC Certificate?

An OBC certificate generally does not have an expiry date.

However, to claim OBC reservation benefits, you must submit a valid OBC Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) certificate issued within the period specified in the notification.

An OBC certificate is issued by authorized government authorities, such as the 

• District Magistrate (DM)

• Deputy Commissioner (DC)

What Are the Conditions to Avail SC/ST Age Relaxation in NABARD Grade A?

To claim SC/ST age relaxation for th NABARD Grade A exam, you must submit a valid SC/ST caste certificate issued by a competent government authority, such as:

• District Magistrate (DM)
• Additional District Magistrate (ADM)
• Collector / Deputy Commissioner
• Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM)

What Is the Validity of an SC/ST Certificate?

An SC/ST certificate does not expire.

Unlike an OBC NCL certificate, you do not need to obtain a fresh certificate for every recruitment. Once issued, the same certificate can be used for future applications, unless the recruitment notification specifies otherwise.

What Are the Conditions to Avail PwBD Age Relaxation in NABARD Grade A?

To claim PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities) age relaxation for the NABARD Assistant Manager exam, you must:

• Have a benchmark disability of 40% or more
• Submit a valid disability certificate or Unique Disability Identity (UDID) Card issued by a competent medical authority, such as:

• A Medical Board at a District Hospital, Government Medical College, or an institution like AIIMS
• A Civil Surgeon, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), or Medical Superintendent of a government hospital

Important: Candidates with less than 40% disability are not eligible for PwBD age relaxation.

What Are the Categories of PwBD?

The PwBD categories recognized for NABARD Grade A include:

1. Blindness and low vision
2. Deaf and hard of hearing

What is the Special PwBD Case Specified by NABARD?

If any candidate becomes physically disabled during the recruitment process, they can still claim PwBD benefits, regardless of their category.

What Is a Scribe?

A scribe is a person who writes or types the exam on behalf of a candidate who is unable to do so because of a disability affecting their ability to write.

Who Can Avail a Scribe?

You can avail a scribe for the NABARD Grade A exam if you have 40% or more benchmark disability in any of the following categories:

• Blindness
• Locomotor disability (both arms affected)
• Cerebral palsy

Important Points About the Scribe Facility

• Eligible candidates get 20 minutes of extra time per hour of the exam, even if they do not use a scribe.
• You must arrange your own scribe.
• The scribe’s educational qualification must be 2–3 academic years below the minimum qualification required for the exam.
• The scribe must carry valid proof of a valid educational qualification to the exam center.

What Are the Conditions to Avail Ex-Servicemen Age Relaxation in NABARD Grade A?

To be eligible for claiming Ex-Servicemen age relaxation for NABARD Grade A exam, you must:

• Be a Commissioned Officer, Emergency Commissioned Officer (ECO), or Short Service Commissioned Officer (SSCO)
• Have completed at least 5 years of military service as of the 1st day of the notification month
• Have been released from service:
  • On completion of the assignment (or due to complete it within one year from the 1st day of the notification month), and not due to misconduct or inefficiency, or
  • Due to a disability attributable to military service, or
  • Due to invalidation from the service

What Are the Conditions to Avail Current Servicemen Age Relaxation in NABARD Grade A?

Current ECOs/SSCOs are eligible for the NABARD Grade A age relaxation if they:

• Have completed at least 5 years of military service as of the 1st day of the notification month
• Have had their service extended beyond the initial 5-year assignment
• Submit a Ministry of Defence certificate stating that:
  • They are eligible to apply for civilian jobs, and
  • They will be released within 3 months if selected.

Important Note: Any ex- or current servicemen, other than mentioned above, are not eligible for the NABARD Grade A age relaxation.  

What Are the Conditions to Avail EWS Benefits in NABARD Grade A?

To claim EWS (Economically Weaker Section) benefits, you must submit a valid Income and Asset Certificate. The certificate must:

• Be issued by a competent government authority (usually Tehsildar or above)
• Be based on the financial year immediately preceding the notification year
• Be valid for the year of the NABARD Grade A notification
• Be issued on or before the last date of application

What Is the Validity of an EWS Certificate?

An EWS certificate is valid for one year.

Therefore, you must obtain a new Income and Asset Certificate each time you apply for the NABARD Grade A exam.

What Are the Conditions to Avail Age Relaxation in NABARD Grade A for 1984 Riots Victims’ Children?

To claim age relaxation under this category, you must submit a certificate in the prescribed format issued by a competent government authority, such as the District Magistrate (DM).

Does a 1984 Riots Victims’ Children Certificate Expire?

No. The certificate does not have a specified validity period.

NABARD Grade A Eligibility: Educational Qualification

Please note that one must have the required educational qualification as of the 1st of the month in which the NABARD Grade A Assistant Manager recruitment notification is released.

• *The minimum marks criteria for a bachelor’s degree is 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PWBD applicants), and for a master’s degree is 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PWBD applicants)

Important Note: PWBD candidates applying against Unreserved (UR) posts will not be eligible for percentage relaxation in educational qualification. However, they may be eligible for age and fee relaxation.

What is Considered Graduation and Post-Graduation?

• Graduation:
  • Any course of at least 3 years from a recognized university/institute after Class XII.
• Post-Graduation: 
  • Any course of at least 2 years from a recognized university/institute after graduation.

Yes, you can apply for the NABARD Grade A exam with a distance education degree, provided

• Your degree is from a recognized university.

Which Degree Will Be Considered If I Have Multiple Degrees?

If you have multiple eligible qualifications, you may apply using any one of them, provided it satisfies the eligibility criteria prescribed for the post.

• Integrated degree holders are also eligible if the qualification is recognized and meets the prescribed criteria.
• A provisional degree certificate is acceptable, provided it proves that you possessed the required qualification on the prescribed cut-off date.

Important Note: Only diploma holders are not eligible, unless the diploma is specifically recognized as an equivalent qualification by NABARD.
