Is the RBI Grade B exam Bilingual?

Yes, all question papers (except the English Language test) are set in both Hindi and English, allowing you to choose your preferred language for answering.

Which subject has more weightage in the RBI Grade B Phase 1?
  • General Awareness (GA) carries the highest weightage, 80 marks.
  • Reasoning Ability carries the second highest weightage, 60 marks.
  • English Language & Quantitative Aptitude hold equal weightage, 30 marks each.
What is the interview weightage in the RBI Grade B exam?

The RBI Grade B interview carries a weightage of 20% in the final selection process. 

Phase 2 carries 300 marks, and the interview carries 75 marks. The final selection is decided by adding Phase 2 and interview marks, making it a total of 375 marks. Thus, the interview is worth 20%.

Does the RBI Grade B officer pattern remain the same every year?

RBI has changed the RBI Grade B officer pattern in 2019 and 2021. The pattern introduced in 2021 is currently in effect until further notice.

When was the last time RBI changed the RBI Grade B pattern?

The RBI Grade B exam pattern has been modified in 2019 and 2021.  

  • 2019: RBI introduced sectional timings to the Phase 1 pattern. This means specific time limits were allocated to each section.

2021: RBI introduced descriptive questions in Phase 2 (ESI and FM) and a psychometric test before the interview. It also increased the interview marks from 50 to 75.

Will RBI change the pattern of the RBI Grade B exam this year?

The last changes made by RBI were in 2021. We do not expect the RBI Grade B pattern to change soon.

How long is the RBI Grade B Phase 1 exam?

The RBI Grade B Phase 1 exam lasts for 2 hours with different sectional timing for each subject.

  • General Awareness (GA): 25 minutes
  • Reasoning Ability: 45 minutes
  • English Language: 25 minutes
  • Quantitative Aptitude: 25 minutes
What are the marks distribution for the RBI Grade B ESI and FM papers?

The objective and descriptive sections of the RBI Grade B ESI and FM papers carry 50 marks each, making a total of 100 marks for each paper. 

What are the RBI Grade B shift timings?

Phase 1 is conducted in 2 shifts: Morning (9:00 AM to 11:00 AM) and afternoon/evening (12:30 PM to 2:30 PM), where you need to attend only one shift. 

Phase 2 is conducted in 2 shifts: Morning (9:00 AM to 11:30 AM) and afternoon/evening (2:00 PM to 5:30 PM), where you need to attend both shifts. Additionally, the descriptive English paper is usually combined with either FM or ESI.

What is the RBI Grade B pre-to-mains ratio?

While the exact ratio isn’t officially published by RBI, the estimated RBI Grade B pre-to-mains selection ratio is 1:15, and the mains-to-interview selection ratio is 1:3. 

It means that candidates called for the mains are typically 15 times the number of vacancies across all categories. This narrows down to around 3 times the number of vacancies for the interview stage.
