Have you ever felt like you studied so hard, but things just didn’t go the way you planned? It feels a little sad, doesn’t it? Well, today we are going to talk about a friend just like you, Mr. Charugundla Sai Gireesh. He also faced some tough times, but he found his way and cleared the big RBI Grade B exam. His story is not about being a superhero, but about being a normal person who just kept trying.
Let’s listen to his simple and honest story, starting at the beginning.
Who Is Charugundla Sai Gireesh
Charugundla is from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh. He was a very bright student and even became a Chartered Accountant (CA). After becoming a CA, he got a good job at a big company called E&Y.
But his heart wanted something more. He wanted to do a job that helps our country and our people.
The best part was his family. His parents always trusted him. When he told them he wanted to leave his job to prepare for government exams, they said, “Okay, whatever you want to do, you do. No problem.”
But even with all this support, his journey had some difficult turns.

First Major Setback Before RBI Grade B
Charugundla’s first big dream was to clear the UPSC exam. For years, he put all his energy into it. He studied day and night. But sometimes, even when we try our best, things don’t work out. He couldn’t clear the exam after a few tries.
This was the first time in his life he had faced such a big challenge in his studies. He felt very low. He would see his friends who were working, earning money, and enjoying their weekends, and a small doubt would creep into his mind: “Did I make a mistake by leaving my job?”
But you know, sometimes a small chat with a friend can change everything.
The Friend’s Advice That Redirected Him Toward RBI Grade B
One day, while he was feeling a bit lost, his friends gave him a beautiful idea. They asked him,
“Why don’t you try for the RBI Grade B exam? So much of what you studied for UPSC will help you here!”
Suddenly, Charugundla felt a new hope. It was like finding a new path in a forest where he thought he was lost. He realised that his UPSC preparation was not a waste. It was a strong foundation for his next big step. This was his ‘Plan B’, a new dream to work towards.
So, with this new hope in his heart, he started to prepare. Let’s see how he made his plan.
How UPSC Prep Became His Foundation for RBI Grade B
Charugundla knew that about 80% of the RBI Grade B syllabus was similar to what he had already studied for UPSC. So, he didn’t start from zero. His old UPSC notes were like his secret superpower! He just needed to use them in a new way for the RBI exam. This is a great lesson for all of us. Whatever we learn, it never goes to waste. It always helps us somewhere.
But even with a superpower, we can sometimes make mistakes, right?
His First RBI Grade B Attempt
In his first attempt at the RBI exam, he thought the questions would be simple, just like in UPSC. But he was surprised! The objective questions in the RBI exam were very, very specific and needed deep knowledge. He hadn’t prepared for that kind of detail, so he missed clearing the exam by just a few marks.
Have you ever felt overconfident before an exam and then realised the paper was tougher than you thought? It happens to the best of us! Charugundla felt sad, but he didn’t let this stop him. Instead, he learned a very important lesson from his mistake.
He understood what went wrong, and that’s the most important step to getting better.
His Second RBI Grade B Attempt
For his second attempt, Charugundla made one big change. He decided to become the master of objective questions. Every single day, he practiced 20-30 objective questions. He read all the government schemes and reports in great detail. He didn’t leave anything to chance this time.
This daily practice was like exercise for his brain. Slowly, his fear of objective questions went away, and his confidence grew stronger and stronger.
But studying is one thing. Facing the actual exam is a whole different story.

RBI Grade B Exams & Interview Experience
When he went for his second attempt, he was much smarter. In Phase 1, he knew the cut-off would be low. So, instead of trying to answer every question, he first picked only those questions he was 100% sure about. This way, he avoided mistakes and easily cleared the cut-off.
Then came the interview. This was the part that made him very nervous. He remembered how he had reached the interview last time but couldn’t make it to the final list. All those old feelings of sadness came back. But this time, he talked to himself.
“It’s okay. Even if I don’t clear it, I have my CA degree. I have other options. I just need to be calm.”
This simple self-talk helped him relax. He also took mock interviews with EduTap, which made him feel much more prepared and confident. He went into the interview room with a calm mind and answered everything honestly. And this time, he scored very well!
After all this hard work, it was finally time for the result.
Finding His Roll Number in the RBI Grade B List
When the final result was out, Charugundla was in a vehicle with his friend. His heart was beating fast. He asked his friend to stop the car. He opened the PDF with the list of selected students. He started scrolling, looking for his roll number. He went past 100 names… his number was not there. His hope started to fade.
But he kept scrolling. And finally, near the end of the list, he saw it! His roll number was there! He couldn’t describe the feeling. It was a mix of shock, relief, and pure happiness.
The first person he called was his mom. She asked for a video call, and when she saw his happy face, she started crying with joy. After five long years of his hard work, her son had finally achieved his dream. Those happy tears were the most beautiful reward for him.
