In her very 1st RBI attempt, she cleared the overall cut-off for Phase 1 but missed the Reasoning sectional cut-off by just 0.75 marks. It made her scared of the Reasoning section.

For Quants, she was smart. She knew she couldn’t be a master of everything. So, she picked a few topics she was good at and practiced them so well that she could solve any question from them in the exam. 

She didn’t completely ignore her weak topics, but she didn’t let them drain her energy.

Jaya’s Phase 2 RBI Grade B Descriptive Answer Writing Strategy

Phase 2 is where many students get worried, especially about descriptive writing. Here’s what Jaya did.

Her main focus this year was not on typing fast, but on writing well. She realized that the quality of her content was more important. 

Last time, she had filled the pages but wasn’t happy with *what* she had written. So this year, she worked on improving her answers, making them rich with good points, facts, and structure.

And she used a secret weapon: visualization. Before sleeping or during a break, she would close her eyes and imagine herself sitting in the exam hall, calmly writing her answers. 

This trained her mind not to be scared on the final day. 

“Visualizing how I will write the answer… it prepares our mind in a way… that we are not scared of something.”

For practice, she didn’t use MS Word. Why? Because it has spell-checkers, which the real exam doesn’t! Instead, she used Notepad in a minimized window to get the real feel of the exam screen.

She cleared the written parts, but the interview was where she had felt unsure before. This time, she did something completely different.

Preparing for the Interview… Before Even Clearing Mains!

Jaya started her interview preparation in January, long before the Phase 2 results. She felt she could have done better in her last interview and wanted to fix that. She looked at her bio-data and felt a little insecure about being unemployed. 

Instead of just worrying, she took action. She cleared the UGC NET exam and did an extra course on Central Banking. These small steps made her feel confident from within.

“I knew that the panel members… just want normal, good candidates… but there are insecurities in ourselves that we get over time.”

Jaya noticed that many students waste time worrying about rumors. “Will there be fewer vacancies this year?” “Will the exam pattern change?” She has a very simple message for you.

“My only suggestion is, please don’t waste your time in all these discussions… because the exam will happen no matter what… Focus on your preparation because if not this exam, then something else or another will fall in your lap if you keep on working.”

Her advice is simple: Just focus on what is in your control, your hard work. Everything else is just noise. If you give your 100%, you will definitely land somewhere great.
