A Simple Start and a Big Question in Her Heart

Abinaya studied engineering because her father thought it was a good idea. But inside, something didn’t feel right. As she got closer to finishing her studies, a big question started worrying her: “Is this what I want to do my whole life?”

She knew in her heart that engineering was not her real path. So, she started looking for other options. She found that she really liked banking and finance. It felt interesting! So, she decided to follow this new feeling. She worked hard, joined a coaching class, and soon got a good job as a PO at SBI. Everyone was happy for her.

But sometimes, even when you reach a safe place, your heart knows there’s another journey waiting for you.

The Big, Scary Decision: Leaving a Safe Job

Working at SBI was good, but Abinaya saw things she wanted to change. She felt she could help customers in a better way. This feeling grew stronger and stronger. It made her dream of working at RBI, where she could make bigger changes. So, she started studying for the RBI Grade B exam while doing her SBI job.

But it was very, very hard. Her job was busy, and she was always tired. She felt she was not able to give enough time to her RBI dream.

She was 26, and she had to make a choice. Keep the safe job or risk everything for her big dream? For three whole months, she thought about it day and night. Finally, in February 2023, she made a very brave decision. She resigned from her SBI job to study full-time. It was a big risk, but her dream was bigger than her fear.

This was a brave step, but the next challenge was telling her family.

Talking to Family: The Hardest Conversation

When Abinaya told her parents she wanted to leave her job, they were very worried. For them, a stable job at SBI was a big achievement. Why would anyone leave that? They were scared for her. This is something many of our parents feel, right? They just want us to be safe.

But Abinaya didn’t give up. She sat with them and explained how she was not truly happy. She reminded her mother of a time before when she had asked for trust. She said, “Amma, trust me again. I’ll prove you right.”

After talking for a long time, her parents finally saw the dream in her eyes. They understood.

“If you’re not happy with what you’re doing and want to pursue your dreams, you should go for it, we’ll support you.”

That support gave her all the strength she needed. She decided not to tell many other people, to protect herself from their doubts and questions.

Now that she had her family’s support, it was time to make a real study plan.

My Simple Study Plan: How I Studied Every Day

Abinaya knew that just resigning was not enough. The real work started now. She made a simple promise to herself: “I will be consistent.” She aimed to study for 9-10 hours, but she made sure she completed at least 7-8 hours every single day.

But studying for 8 hours can be boring, right? Abinaya felt that too. So, she found a fun way to learn.

“Sticking to one study style wasn’t effective for me. Mixing things up kept it interesting.”

Here is what she did to make studying fun:

  • Read the Books: She would spend some time reading the study material.
  • Watch Videos: Then, she would watch videos from mentors at EduTap who explained things simply.
  • Write on a Whiteboard: She bought a small whiteboard and wrote down important facts on it. Seeing them again and again helped her remember.

This way, she never felt like she was just reading a boring book. She was learning in different ways!

Now let’s look at how she planned for each part of the exam.

How I Handled Phase 1

Since she had worked in a bank, Abinaya was already good at Reasoning. So, her goal was simple: just clear the cut-off, not score the highest.

For Quant, she only focused on topics she was good at, like Data Interpretation. She didn’t waste time on topics she found very hard.

Her smart plan was to save her energy for other subjects like General Awareness and English, where she could score more.

For Current Affairs, she trusted only one source: EduTap. The revision videos from the teachers helped her remember everything easily.

This smart work helped her clear Phase 1 without getting tired. But Phase 2 was a different challenge.

My Plan for Phase 2 and Descriptive Writing

For Finance and Management, Abinaya found EduTap’s notes to be perfect.

For ESI, which has a very big syllabus, she was smart again. She picked only 4-5 important topics from the static part and connected them with current news. This saved her a lot of time.

But the biggest challenge was descriptive writing.

She had never written long answers before! Abinaya found a solution. EduTap provided sample introductions and conclusions. She learned them well. This way, she always had a good start and a good end for her answers. For the main body, she used the knowledge she had gained. It was like having a secret formula to write good answers!

After all this hard work, one final test was left. But life had a very difficult surprise for her.

The Final Test: A Big Problem Before the Interview

Abinaya cleared her Mains exam! She was so happy. But she made a small mistake. She waited for the result before starting her interview preparation. And then, something very difficult happened. Just 15 days before her interview, her father had an accident. He had to be in the hospital. And just after he came home, her mother got a viral fever.

Her family needed her. Her mind was full of worry. How could she study? It was impossible to focus 100%. She was scared that her dream would slip away at the very last moment.

“Don’t make the same mistake! If you’re confident in the Mains exam, start your interview preparation early.”

Even with all the tension, she tried to study for 2-3 hours a day. Her earlier hard work and knowledge helped her get through the interview.

But how did she handle so much stress during her preparation? She had a little secret.

Your Turn: What Can You Learn From Abinaya’s Journey?

Abinaya’s story feels so real because it is full of feelings we all go through, fear, hope, confusion, and happiness. She is not a superhero; she is a friend who shows us what is possible with courage and hard work.

Here are the most important things you can learn from her:

  • Listen to Your Heart: If you are not happy where you are, it’s okay to look for a new path. Your happiness matters the most.
  • Big Decisions Are Scary: Leaving a safe place is always scary. But sometimes, it is the only way to reach a beautiful destination.
  • Consistency is Your Best Friend: You don’t need to study 15 hours a day. Studying for 7-8 hours with full focus every day is much better.
  • Believe in Yourself, Especially When No One Else Does: People might doubt you. But you must be your own biggest supporter.
  • It’s a Journey, Not a Race: There will be good days and bad days. The important thing is to just keep walking, one small step at a time.

Her journey teaches us that success is not just about clearing an exam. It’s about becoming a stronger and braver person along the way. We are so proud of Abinaya, and we hope her story gives you the courage to follow your own big dream. You can do it too!
