Hello my dear friend, have you ever felt like you have a big dream but very little time to make it come true? Sometimes, our hearts want something badly, but our minds get scared looking at the calendar. We are going to talk about a friend just like us, Prasanth Akkiraju, who had a huge dream of clearing the RBI Grade B exam. And guess what? He did it in his very first attempt with only 3 months of focused study!

This is not just a story of success. It is a story of hope, smart thinking, and listening to your own heart. It’s for every student who feels a little lost or worried. So, let’s sit together and listen to Prasanth’s journey, and maybe we will find a little light for our own path too.

Let’s first go back in time and see where his story began.

From a College Dream to a Real Plan

Prasanth was a bright student who did his B.Tech. But his heart was always in helping people. He even started his own NGO! For a long time, he was preparing for the UPSC exam, since 2015. So you see, he was already on a journey of hard work.

But do you know when the idea of RBI first came to his mind? It was way back in 2012, when he was in college. He visited the beautiful RBI library in Hyderabad and even met some RBI managers. A small seed was planted in his heart. But life took him on other paths.

It was only in 2021 that he looked at the RBI Grade B exam seriously. He noticed that the things he was studying for other exams like SSC, like maths, reasoning, and English, were also needed for RBI. It was like all his past efforts were coming together to show him a new way.

That’s when Prasanth decided to give his all to this exam. He knew he didn’t have years, but he had something more important: the experience from his past studies.

But knowing the path and walking on it are two different things, and his journey was just starting to get challenging.

Facing the Big Challenge: Only 3 Months Left!

Imagine this: you have to climb a big mountain, and you only have 3 months to prepare. Scary, right? Prasanth felt that too. Many students prepare for years, and he had just about 90 days for his dedicated RBI preparation.

“My dedicated RBI Grade B Preparation lasted for three months only.”

He could have given up. He could have thought, “It’s impossible, let me try next year.” But he didn’t. This is where his journey teaches us our first big lesson. He knew he couldn’t study everything like others. He had to be smart. He had to make a plan that worked for *him*. Do you sometimes feel stuck trying to copy someone else’s plan? Prasanth’s story tells us that it’s okay to make your own rules.

He was worried about the Finance and Management part, as it was new for him. The Reasoning section in Phase 1 also felt like one of the toughest in India. There were many reasons to feel scared, but Prasanth turned his fear into a plan.

Let’s see how this change in his thinking helped him make a wonderful strategy.

My Simple Plan That Worked: From Fear to Focus

Prasanth knew he couldn’t become a master of everything in 2-3 months. So, he made a brave choice. Instead of trying to fix all his weak areas, he decided to make his strong areas even stronger. This is a golden tip for you too! If you have less time, focus on what you are already good at, so you can score maximum marks there.

How He Prepared for Phase 1

  • For Reasoning: He found this section very tough. So what did he do? He picked up a stopwatch. After learning a chapter, he would solve 10 problems and time himself. Then, he would solve the SAME problems again to see if he was faster. He did this again and again until he felt confident. It’s like playing a game with yourself!
  • For General Awareness: He used good resources like EduTap and AffairsCloud. But here’s his simple trick: he made short summary sheets. On one A4 paper, he would write down all awards, all banks in the news, etc., in just one or two words. This made revision super fast just before the exam.
  • A Big Lesson on Revision: Prasanth strongly believes that revision is everything. He would revise whatever he studied within 3-4 days. It takes courage to stop learning new things and go back to revise old topics, but it’s the most important habit.

“If you don’t revise, it’s basically the same as not studying at all.”

How He Prepared for Phase 2

Prasanth believed that Phase 2 is not just about remembering information; it’s about showing your deep understanding.

“The RBI Grade B Mains exam is all about knowledge, not just information recall.”

So, in his descriptive answers, he didn’t just write plain facts. He added quotes, little stories (anecdotes), and data to make his answers interesting to read. Even though he couldn’t finish the entire paper, he scored well because the quality of his answers was very high. Remember, quality is more important than quantity.

For Finance and Management, he used EduTap’s notes and mind maps. He made his own short notes from them, condensing each chapter into just 3-4 pages. In the last two days, he only read his own mind maps. That’s how focused he was!

Now, after all this hard work, came the final test: the interview. And what happened there is truly inspiring.

My Interview Experience: The Day I Scored 74 out of 75

Getting 74 out of 75 is almost perfect! How did he do it?

Not by being perfect, but by being real and confident. The interview panel was serious. They were ready to correct him if he made a mistake. In fact, the chairman even scolded him a little!

Prasanth used an acronym (a short form like RBI), and the chairman told him it was not professional.

What did Prasanth do? Did he get scared? No. He calmly apologized and said, “I’m sorry sir, my mistake. I’ll make a note of it.” This shows humility and the ability to learn.

But there was another moment where he showed his courage. A panel member said that agricultural marketing is more important than productivity. Prasanth politely disagreed. He explained with a beautiful example of a farmer growing red apples. He said that if the farmer uses chemicals to make apples look red and shiny (good marketing), the soil will become weak in a few years, and there will be no apples to sell. So, productivity is more important in the long run. The panel became silent and listened carefully. He made them think!

“If you make a genuine mistake, acknowledge it… However, if the mistake is not yours, take a stand, as there’s nothing wrong with it.”

The Secret of the Biodata

He says your biodata is the most important tool for the interview. He prepared six different drafts of his biodata! He chose every word carefully so that he could guide the interviewers to ask questions he wanted to answer. For example, instead of just writing ‘photography,’ he wrote ‘fine art photography’ to make them curious.

“Your biodata is a constitution, and the interviewers are agents of the constitution.”

When they asked him about the gap years in his life, he didn’t see it as a weakness. He confidently said that it was his time to explore and experiment. He owned his journey with pride.

His story teaches us that an interview is not an exam, it’s a conversation. And you can be the one who leads it, with honesty and confidence.

So, what kept him going through all this? Let’s hear his final words of motivation for you.

My Message to You: Just Start Your Journey

This journey of preparation is tough. Prasanth shares that he was so dedicated that he even lost 7 kilos in those three months! He would pull all-nighters, studying things he hadn’t touched before, just days before the exam. This shows the fire you need to have inside you. It’s not about losing weight, but about being willing to push your limits for your dream.

Here are some real-life tips from his heart to yours:

  • Read Newspapers: Before his interview, he read 2-3 business newspapers every day. It gave him immense confidence because he knew he was on the same page as the interviewers.
  • Be Honest About Your Journey: Never be ashamed of your past attempts or gap years. If you are proud of what you learned, say it. Your story makes you unique.
  • Trust Yourself: Prasanth says once you are truly dedicated, you will automatically know what to do. Your heart will guide you. Stop comparing and start believing in your own plan.
  • Evaluate and Correct: We all make mistakes. The key is to keep checking ourselves and correcting our path. Don’t be afraid to change your strategy if it’s not working.

Prasanth’s journey is a beautiful reminder that you don’t need years of preparation, but you do need a few months of fearless heart and a smart mind.

What You Can Do Right Now

Prasanth’s story isn’t about a superhuman who did something impossible. It’s about a normal student like you and me who decided to be brave, smart, and true to himself. He teaches us that the journey to success is not a straight line. It has twists and turns, moments of fear and moments of courage.

Here’s what you can start with:

1. Make Your Own Plan: Look at your strengths and weaknesses. Create a study plan that feels right for you, not for someone else.

2. Believe in Smart Revision: Promise yourself that you will revise regularly. Make it a non-negotiable part of your day.

3. Own Your Story: Be proud of who you are and the journey you have had. Your experiences are your power.

4. Just Start: Don’t wait for the perfect time or the perfect plan. Just take the first small step today with full dedication.

We hope Prasanth Akkiraju’s simple and honest story filled your heart with hope. Remember, you have everything within you to achieve your dream. Just trust yourself and keep walking. We at EduTap are always here to walk with you on this beautiful journey. All the very best!
