But sometimes, life has other plans for us, right? After coming so close, he couldn’t find his name on the final list. He felt really sad for weeks.

Finding a New Path: The RBI Opportunity

While he was feeling low, his friends told him about the RBI Grade B exam. The notification was already out! At first, he didn’t know much about it. He just started watching YouTube videos to understand the exam pattern. This helped him distract his mind from the UPSC result.

He decided to fill out the form just 4 days before the last date. It was a quick decision! Many people told him not to do it. Some said, “Focus on UPSC only,” while others said, “Give as many exams as you can.” 

But Prashant listened to his heart. 

He felt that this was the right thing to do at that moment. His father once told him something very important: 

This thought gave him strength. He knew if he was filling the form, he had to give it his 100%.

RBI Grade B Motivation: The Power of ‘No Other Choice’

Prashant says his biggest motivation was that he had no other choice. He beautifully explains it with this thought:

He felt that he had to give this exam his everything. He didn’t waste time thinking, “How will I feel motivated today?” He just knew he had to do it. This is such a simple and powerful way to think, isn’t it?

And you know what else helped him? 

His friends! First, his friends motivated him to fill out the form. Then, he motivated his other friends to fill out the form too! 

They all started preparing together online. They shared notes, found videos for each other, and made the whole journey feel like a fun game. Preparing with friends who understand you can make the toughest journey feel lighter.

How He Cracked RBI Grade B Phase 1 in 1 Month

This was a big challenge, but Prashant had a clever plan.

RBI Grade B Preparation: Mastering GA the Smart Way

GA felt huge. Some people study for one year, some for nine months. But Prashant only had time for 3 months. So he decided to focus only on the last 3 months of current affairs. It was a gamble, but a smart one.

He and his friends divided the work. One friend would make notes for March, another for April, and so on. 

They shared everything. 

But his secret weapon was mock tests. He thought, “The people making these mocks are experts. I will solve the mock test and learn all 80 questions from it.” So, every mock test was like reading a new book for him!

He also wrote down the facts on paper to revise them again and again. For him, revision was like a game to remember numbers and facts.

RBI Grade B Quant & Reasoning Strategy

Prashant was very honest. He said Quant was his most difficult part. He was scared of it. 

So, instead of trying to become a master, his goal was simple: just clear the individual cut-off. He practiced a lot of mock tests. From the mocks, he learned which questions to attempt and which to leave. 

For Reasoning, he decided to leave the difficult sitting arrangement questions for the end.

The biggest lesson here is to be smart. You don’t have to score full marks in every section. You just need to clear the cut-off and maximize your overall score.

After clearing Phase 1, an even bigger challenge was waiting: Phase 2!

RBI Grade B Phase 2: 20 Days Preparation

Prashant had only about 20 days for Phase 2. He had to study ESI, Finance, and Management. It felt impossible, but he used his UPSC experience and smart thinking here.

For Management, he knew it was static, so he focused on it. He read the PDFs, made notes, and memorized the important theories. He felt this was a scoring area.

For Finance, he was very scared. He felt he couldn’t complete it. So, he took another big gamble and decided to mostly skip the hard-core finance topics. Instead, he focused on schemes and reports, which were common for both ESI and Finance. Luckily for him, the exam had more questions on schemes, and his gamble paid off!

For ESI and English Descriptive, his UPSC preparation helped a lot. He knew how to write good answers. His advice is simple:

• Write in points, not long paragraphs.
• Use lots of examples, keywords, and facts.
• Try to connect your answers to real life, like mentioning leaders from history or today.

This shows us that you don’t always need to study everything. Sometimes, you need to choose your battles wisely, especially when time is short.

RBI Grade B Interview Experience

This is where his true personality shone through.

In his interview, the very first question was on Physics from his college days, and guess what? He didn’t know the answer! 

He calmly said, “Sorry, sir.” 

Prashant told himself, “I have to make the next answer the best one.” And he did! He answered the next questions on economics with so much confidence that he covered up for the first mistake.

The panel also asked him a tricky question: “Will you give UPSC again?” He had 2 choices: lie and say no, or be honest. He chose to be honest.

“I said, yes, sir.”

He honestly told them yes, but also added that RBI is a great opportunity. The interview board appreciated his honesty. Being truthful and calm, even when you are scared, is a very big strength.
