A Little Bit About Priya and Her Family

Priya was a very bright student. She studied Chemical Engineering at IIT Delhi, which is a very big thing! After her studies, she worked in a good company for a year. But her heart wanted something else. She wanted to prepare for government exams. So, she started her preparation journey. She even cleared exams like SBI PO and IBPS PO but decided not to join because her big dream was something else.

Her family was always there for her, like a strong pillar. You know how important that is, right? When you are trying to do something big, having your family believe in you is a super power. This support became very important for her later when things got tough.

But even for a bright student from IIT, the path wasn’t easy. Let’s see the problems she faced right at the start.

The Long Wait and The Tough Times

Priya’s main dream was to clear the UPSC CSE exam. For five long years, she gave it her everything. She even reached the interview stage two times, which is a huge achievement! But she couldn’t make it to the final list.

At the same time, she also tried for the RBI Grade B exam twice before. In her first try in 2019, she missed the total score needed. In her second try in 2021, the exam pattern had changed, and she could not clear the score needed for the Reasoning section. She felt that she was not prepared for the new type of questions.

Every time she didn’t see her name on the list, a little bit of confidence would break. She started to doubt herself. “Am I good enough? Am I doing something wrong?” These questions would circle in her mind. Did this ever happen to you?

But things were about to change for her.

Finding a New Hope: The Big Mindset Change

The biggest challenge came in 2023. After another year of hard work, Priya did not clear the UPSC Prelims. This time, she felt really shattered.

“Every day, I struggled with self-doubt and self-pity, which affected my concentration.”

She had spent more than 5 years on her UPSC journey and felt lost.

But this is where her real strength showed. Instead of giving up, she decided to focus all her energy on the RBI Grade B exam. She had only 22 days left for Phase 1! It was a very scary situation. But she told herself, “I have to do this.”

A friend told her something very simple but powerful: “We get equal marks for solving an easy or a difficult question.” This simple line changed how she looked at the exam. She decided not to get stuck on difficult questions and waste her time. Her new plan was to find the easy questions first and solve them quickly. This was the big mindset change that helped her move forward.

Now here’s where Priya really showed what smart preparation looks like.

Her Smart Study Plan

Time to see how she made her plan work in real life.

For Phase 1: A 22-Day Race

With so little time, Priya couldn’t study everything. She had to be very smart.

  • General Awareness (GA): This was her strong area. She read EduTap’s Beepedia for the last 4 months and watched all the important revision videos on EduTap. She made sure to revise everything at least twice.
  • Quant & Reasoning: These sections worried her the most. She said, “Two major reasons for my underconfidence were failing in CSAT… and scoring less in Quant & Reasoning in the 2021 attempt.” To fix this, she joined a crash course from EduTap. She learned simple tricks from VD Sir and practiced a lot to get faster. Her only goal was to find doable questions and clear the cut-off.
  • English: Because of her UPSC preparation, her English was already good, so she did not spend extra time on it.
  • Mock Tests: She gave 5 mock tests from EduTap. This helped her practice time management and feel less scared of the real exam.

For Phase 2: A 20-Day Challenge

After Phase 1, she had just 20 days for Phase 2. The pressure was huge!

  • ESI & English: Her UPSC knowledge was a big help here. She quickly revised her old notes and read EduTap’s summary sheets to cover RBI-specific topics.
  • Finance & Management (FM): This was a completely new subject for her. She felt very scared and clueless. She watched the crash course videos from EduTap by Jalaj Sir, made short notes, and revised them again and again. This focused hard work gave her amazing results. She scored 73 marks in this paper, one of her highest!

“I solely relied on EduTap for this section… I was so scared when I started studying Management.”

This shows that even if a subject is new or scary, you can do well with the right guidance and a simple plan. Do you also have a subject that scares you? Maybe Priya’s way can help you too.

But what happened on the actual exam day and in the interview?

Facing the Final Hurdles: Exam Day and Interview

On the day of the Phase 1 exam, things did not go perfectly. In the Reasoning section, she got stuck on some puzzles and took more time than she had planned. Her time management was not as good as it was in the mocks. But because she had practiced finding easy questions, she still managed to clear the cut-off.

For the interview, Priya was much calmer. By this time, she had also gotten a job as an Assistant Director at the Sports Authority of India based on her previous UPSC performance. This job gave her a lot of confidence. She prepared for the interview by:

  • Reading everything on the RBI website.
  • Preparing her biodata very well.
  • Reading the newspaper daily to know about the economy.

She was confident and honest, and she scored a good 57 marks in her interview.

Her journey shows that confidence doesn’t come in one day. It builds up with small wins and the right support. Speaking of support, let’s talk about the people who were her pillars of strength.

The Power of Support: Family, Friends, and EduTap

Priya says that her biggest strength was the people around her. Her family and friends always believed in her, even when she doubted herself.

“I was surrounded by beautiful people (family & friends) who had full faith in me and helped me cheer up.”

She also had a study partner, a friend who was preparing with her for the whole journey. They helped each other, motivated each other, and celebrated together. Guess what? Her friend cleared the exam too!

And for subjects like Finance and Quant where she felt lost, EduTap acted like a teacher who held her hand and showed her the way. It gave her the right material and the confidence she needed to face her weakest areas. This mix of emotional support from family and academic support from a guide like EduTap made all the difference.

So what are the final lessons we can learn from Priya’s amazing story?
