Sometimes, the journey of preparation feels like a very long road. One day, you feel you are on top of the world, and the next day, you feel you can’t even take one more step.
Today, we are going to talk about someone who walked this very same road. His name is Sarvagya Singh, and he cleared the RBI Grade B exam. His story is not just about success; it’s about getting up after falling, again and again. Let’s see how this ride took him from a very low point to his dream job.
Let’s begin Sarvagya’s story from the start.

Journey Begins: A Small-Town Boy with Big Dreams
Sarvagya comes from a small town called Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh. Like many of us, he also had big dreams. After finishing his engineering in 2015, he started preparing for the UPSC exam. For 4 years, he worked very hard. But sometimes, life has other plans for us, doesn’t it?
After his UPSC attempts, he decided to try for the RBI Grade B exam. He started his preparation with a new hope.
But the journey to RBI was not going to be a simple one.
RBI Grade B Interview Setback: The Shock of Scoring Just 4 Marks
In 2019, Sarvagya gave his 1st attempt at RBI Grade B. And guess what? He cleared Phase 1 and Phase 2 and reached the interview!
Imagine how happy he must have felt. He thought, “I have almost made it!” This feeling sometimes makes us a little overconfident, right?
He went for the interview feeling very hopeful. But when the result came, he was shocked. He had scored only 4 marks in the interview. Just 4.
It was one of the lowest scores that year.
He was so close to his dream, but it slipped away. It must have hurt a lot. But the tests were not over for him. More challenges were waiting.

RBI Grade B Challenges: When Everything Seemed to Stop Again
Sarvagya decided he would not give up. He knew he could clear Phase 2, so he just had to fix his interview problem. He started preparing again. But in 2021, the exam pattern changed. Now, there was descriptive answer writing. It was a new challenge for everyone.
He worked hard, but in the 2021 exam, he could not even clear Phase 1. He missed the reasoning cut-off by just 0.25 marks. A tiny margin, but it cost him a whole year. He called this a “reality check.” It felt like he was back to zero.
He got up again and prepared for the 2022 exam. This time, he reached the interview again. He did well. But when the final list came out, his name was not there. He had missed the final selection by just 3 marks.
So, after all these problems, what changed? How did he decide to fight back one more time?
How Sarvagya Started Fresh After Repeated RBI Setbacks
After the 2022 result, Sarvagya took a break for a month. He needed to clear his mind. He knew he couldn’t keep doing the same thing. This was his “restart” moment. He decided to start with a fresh mind.
During this time, he faced many difficult feelings. He would see his friends enjoying their lives, going on trips, and a thought would come: “What am I doing with my life?” He also worried about what relatives and other people would say, the “4 log” we all hear about.
But he had one very big strength: his parents.
“You chose this path. We are with you. Don’t worry about anything.”
This support was like a shield for him. It helped him ignore all the outside noise and focus on his goal.
With a stronger mind, he now needed a smarter plan. Let’s see how he managed his studies while working.

RBI Grade B Preparation with a Full-Time Job
Sarvagya was working at LIC while preparing. It’s very hard to find time after a job, right? But he was very determined. He calls himself “ziddi” (stubborn) when it comes to his goals. Even if he had to study till 2 AM, he would finish his daily target.
He made a simple plan:
- Big Roadmap: He made a plan for the next 6 months. For example, “For the first 4 months, I will focus only on Phase 2.”
- Small Daily Goals: He would write his daily topics on a sticky note and put it on his table. When he finished a topic, he would strike it out. This gave him a feeling of achievement every day.
- 80% Rule: He knew that no one can complete 100% of their targets. He aimed for 80-85%, and if he achieved it, he was happy.
He even told his friends white lies, saying he was busy with “quarterly ending” at work, just so he could get some extra study time. This shows how focused he was.
But where did he find the time to make so many notes?

RBI Grade B Notes Making Strategy
Sarvagya knew he couldn’t make long notes for everything. So, he divided his notes into three types:
- Sticky Notes: For important definitions of topics like Leadership or Motivation. He stuck them near his study table so he could see them all the time.
- A Small Diary: For data and facts for ESI, or important lines from RBI Governors’ speeches.
- A4 Paper Sheets: He made very short summary notes on paper, just like the summary sheets from EduTap. This was for last-minute revision.
This way, his notes were organized, easy to revise, and didn’t take too much time to make.
A good plan for notes is great, but what about the scary Phase 1 exam?
How He Handled RBI Grade B Phase 1 (QRE)
Sarvagya knew that Quants, Reasoning, and English (QRE) could be tricky. He followed a very smart approach.
- He identified his strong and weak areas.
- He worked on making his strong areas even stronger.
- For his weak areas, his goal was just to clear the cut-off.
“My puzzles are very bad. I decided I will not even attempt them in the exam.”
Instead of trying to be a master of everything, he played to his strengths. This is a very important lesson. What is your weak area? Can you also make a smart plan around it, just like Sarvagya did?
He cleared Phase 1 and Phase 2. But the biggest challenge was waiting: the interview he feared most.

RBI Grade B Interview: Overcoming Fear
When he got the interview call for the 2022 exam, he didn’t panic. He gave himself confidence.
“I have been to this place before. I know the building. There is nothing to be scared of.”
He also took guidance from EduTap’s mentors. He worked on the weak points they pointed out. The biggest change was his approach.
He learned one simple rule: be crisp and to the point. Answer only what is asked. Don’t try to beat around the bush.
This new confidence and clear approach helped him face the interview panel without fear. And this time, he succeeded.
Throughout this long journey, who was standing behind him?

Support System: Family, Mentorship, and EduTap’s Guidance
Sarvagya says his biggest strength was his parents. Their trust in him never broke. When he finally called them to tell them he was selected, he could hear the relief and happiness in their voices. He says that one moment of their happiness was worth all the years of pain.
He also gives a lot of credit to EduTap. He has been with EduTap since 2019. He says that for students from small towns with big dreams, EduTap made quality education accessible.
“You don’t know the path to fulfill your dreams. EduTap showed that path.”
The summary sheets, mind maps, and examples in the notes helped him get that extra edge in his answers.
Now that you know his story, here are some simple tips directly from Sarvagya for you.

Real-Life Lessons from Sarvagya Singh
Here are some simple truths Sarvagya wants to share with every student:
- Don’t be scared of experienced students. The exam gives a fair chance to everyone, even freshers.
- Be honest with yourself. You can lie to your friends or family about your preparation, but never lie to yourself. If you haven’t studied, accept it and try again tomorrow.
- If you feel demotivated, just study for one hour. Some days, you won’t feel like studying at all. On those days, just tell yourself, “I will only study for one hour.” This will keep your continuity.
- Remember why you started. The final feeling of success is worth every bit of pain, every sacrifice, and every tear. It will all be worth it in the end.
These are not just tips from a book; this is advice from someone who has lived this journey.
Sarvagya’s story teaches us that success is not a straight line. It has ups and downs. If you are feeling low today, remember Sarvagya. Remember his 4 marks, his 0.25 margin, his 3-mark miss. If he can get up from all that, so can you.
Believe in yourself, trust your family, and just keep walking. One step at a time. It might take time, but you will reach your destination.
We at EduTap are always with you on this journey, just like we were with Sarvagya. Keep working hard, and never, ever give up on your dreams. You can do it!
