Are you also dreaming big, wanting to clear a tough government exam like SEBI Grade A? Do you sometimes feel a little scared or wonder if it’s even possible? We understand those feelings very well.

Today, we want to tell you a simple, true story of a young man named Banoth Santhosh. He cleared the SEBI Grade A (Legal) exam in 2023 and became an officer. His journey is full of real-life lessons, especially for those of us who might feel like our background is a hurdle. Let’s walk through his story together, just like an older brother or sister would tell you.

His Starting Point and Family Love

Santhosh’s story begins in a humble home. His parents, Bujji and Sevla, work very hard as agricultural laborers, meaning they work in fields every day.

Santhosh often says he feels so thankful for his parents, his uncle, his aunt, his brother, and his best friend. They were always there, cheering him on, even when things got tough.

Now, let’s see some of the twists and turns in his learning journey.

When Plans Change: Early Struggles and Learning

Santhosh’s path wasn’t a straight line. First, he studied in his Zilla Parishad school, then went to RGUKT Basar (IIIT Basar) for PUC and the first year of Engineering. But then, he decided to switch his path and went to IIT Madras for a 5-year Master’s degree!

After that, he studied LLB and even started LLM at Delhi University, but he didn’t finish it there and is doing another LLM now. That’s a lot of changes, right? Sometimes, we start something and then realize it’s not quite right for us. Have you felt this too?

Even more, he tried for SEBI Grade A in 2022 (General Stream) and reached the interview stage, but didn’t get selected that time. Imagine trying so hard, reaching so close, and then having to try again.

So, how did he pick himself up and decide to try again? Let’s talk about that important inner strength.

SEBI Grade A Legal Preparation Strategy Using Bare Acts

After facing those times when things didn’t go as planned, Santhosh didn’t just sit sadly. He thought, “Okay, what can I do differently? How can I be stronger?” This is like a little voice inside saying, “I can do this, I just need to find a new way!”

He understood that simply trying hard wasn’t enough; he needed a smart plan. He knew he had the brain power, he just needed to guide it better. This change in thinking, from “What went wrong?” to “What can I do better?” is what we call a mindset change. It’s like deciding to draw a new, better map when your old one didn’t take you to the treasure.

“My parents worked so hard in the fields, and that always reminded me why I had to keep going.”

That feeling kept him pushing forward, making sure every setback became a stepping stone.

With this new, strong mind, Santhosh made a smart plan for his studies. Let’s see how he did it.

SEBI Grade A Phase 1 Strategy for Legal Stream Aspirants

For the first test, which has subjects like Maths, Reasoning, English, and General Knowledge (Paper I), Santhosh focused on something very important: practice, practice, practice!

  • He didn’t prepare each subject separately with lots of notes, but he did solve many questions to get faster and better.
  • He knew there were no “sectional cutoffs” (meaning you don’t have to pass each subject separately, just the total), so he focused on making 2-3 subjects super strong for himself. This made clearing the first test easier.
  • For Paper II (Legal), he found his best friends: the Bare Acts. These are the actual law books. He read them again and again to understand them properly.
  • He also used the Edzorb Law App to practice lots of questions, especially since his LLB studies were affected by COVID-19. This helped him learn and cover everything well.

“Bare Acts were like my best friends; I kept going back to them again and again.”

SEBI Grade A Phase 2 Legal and English Descriptive Preparation

For the second, tougher test, Santhosh had a clear plan for both parts:

Paper I: English Descriptive

This part needs good writing skills. Santhosh made sure to:

  • Practice writing without making simple grammar mistakes. Imagine writing a letter to your friend without spelling errors; it’s similar!
  • He looked at important essay topics shared by Sushil Ragade Sir from Ixambee and made small notes for them. This helped him remember key points quickly.
  • He read one newspaper editorial every day. This is like reading a good story to learn new words and how to write clear sentences.
  • He took English descriptive writing practice tests from places like EduTap or Ixambee. This is like playing a practice match before the real game to see how well you’re doing.

Paper II: Legal (Objective and Descriptive)

For his main subject, Legal, Santhosh again relied heavily on the Bare Acts and YouTube videos for understanding. He divided his study into different laws:

  • Criminal Laws: Bare Acts, YouTube, and Edzorb Law App for practice. And he used EduTap’s SEBI Legal Test Series for even more practice.
  • Corporate Laws: Again, Bare Acts and YouTube were key. He also used EduTap’s SEBI Legal Test Series, made his own question bank, and used books by CA Harsh Gupta for quick revisions.
  • Securities Laws: Bare Acts, YouTube, his own question bank, and EduTap’s SEBI Legal Test Series were his main helpers.

“EduTap’s test series really helped me see where I stood and what I needed to learn more.”

It really built his confidence for the main exam. After preparing so much, the final step was the interview. This can make anyone nervous, right?

SEBI Grade A Legal Interview Experience and Lessons

The interview is often the part that makes everyone’s heart beat faster. Santhosh also felt this! He shared that it was the most challenging step of his journey. He felt nervous and a little anxious.

“The interview felt like the toughest part. My heart was beating so fast!” he shared. But the people taking his interview were kind and made him feel comfortable. They asked him about his life, his studies, why he changed his path, and about some important law cases like the Sahara case.

One very important thing he remembered was that he had signed up for a free mock interview with EduTap, but he didn’t go because he was too nervous. He regrets that and wants all of you to learn from his experience. Never miss a chance to practice!

“I learned that even if you feel scared, you should still go for those mock interviews. Missing mine was a big lesson.”

Who supported Santhosh throughout this tough journey? Let’s find out.

Support From Family & EduTap in SEBI Grade A Success

Santhosh always remembers the people who helped him. His family, especially his hard-working parents, were his constant pillars of strength. Their belief in him was like a light on his path.

He also thanked EduTap for its SEBI Grade A Legal Test Series. He said it covered all the important laws through questions, which really helped him revise and get ready. He also thanked the Edzorb Law App for helping him understand many legal concepts.

He also gave special thanks to Vidhika Ma’am from Ixambee for her kind guidance and Sushil Ragade Sir (also from Ixambee) for tips on English writing and for encouraging him. It’s like having many good teachers and friends to help you, isn’t it?

So, what are the most important things we can take from Santhosh’s story for our own dreams?
