Engineering Background and Career Before SEBI

Ravikiran was an engineer. He did not study commerce or finance in college. He first worked in a software company, then at SBI as an Assistant Manager, and later at KVIC, which is part of the MSME ministry. He was always working, always busy. But deep inside, he had a dream to join a big organisation like RBI or SEBI.

But having a job and studying together is very, very hard. His journey teaches us that it doesn’t matter where you start from. What matters is that you start.

But his first few tries were not easy. Let’s see what problems he faced.

Early SEBI Grade A Unsuccessful Attempts

Imagine preparing for a whole year and not clearing the interview. That’s what happened to Ravikiran in 2018. He reached the last step but couldn’t make it. Then, in 2020, he tried again but missed the cut-off. It felt like he was running a race but the finish line kept moving away.

What was going wrong? Ravikiran thought about it a lot. He realised his biggest problem was that he was studying from too many places. One book for this topic, a YouTube video for that, and some other notes from a friend. This made his mind very confused. He was working hard, but not in the right direction.

It’s like trying to drink water from ten different glasses at once. You will only spill the water and still be thirsty. That’s exactly how Ravikiran felt, confused and stuck.

But then, he decided that things had to change.

SEBI Grade A: Importance of Single Source Preparation

Ravikiran told himself that he would not repeat the same mistakes. His biggest decision was to trust only one source for his studies. For him, that source was EduTap. Instead of reading 10 different PDFs on one topic, he decided to read EduTap’s PDF 10 times. This was a game-changer.

“I realised that running after too many books was making me more confused. Sticking to one place gave me so much peace of mind and clarity.”

By choosing one trusted guide, Ravikiran saved his energy and focused it on learning and revising. He knew that real learning comes from revision, not from collecting more and more notes.

Now, with this new mindset, let’s see how his study plan looked in real life.

SEBI Grade A Preparation: Study Plan

This is where Ravikiran really shows us how to prepare smartly, not just work hard.

SEBI Grade A Phase 1 Strategy for QRE

Ravikiran knew he was good at Quant and Reasoning from his engineering days. He felt confident about them. So, he made a very brave choice. He did not practice any mock tests for QRE! This might sound shocking, but it was a smart move for him. He knew the SEBI exam has a total cut-off, not a separate one for each section. So he decided to use his strength in QRE to score well without spending extra time on it. He would just look at the solutions of mock tests to learn the methods. This saved him a lot of time, which he used for the more difficult Paper 2.

Understand your own strong and weak points. If you are already good at something, don’t spend all your time on it. Use that time for subjects that scare you a little.

But Paper 2 was the real challenge, especially for an engineer. Here’s what he did.

SEBI Grade A Phase 2 Subject-Wise Strategy

Ravikiran knew he could not become an expert in everything. So he divided the subjects into two groups: those he could score well in, and those he just needed to manage.

  • His Strong Subjects: For subjects like Management and Economics, he focused on understanding the concepts deeply. Because he enjoyed them, he could answer even the tricky questions. For the Companies Act, which is full of facts, he made his own short notes and revised them again and again. This time, he answered all the questions correctly!
  • His “Just-Manage” Subjects: For subjects like Costing, Commerce, and Accountancy, he kept his goal simple. He decided he would not try to solve the very hard numericals. Instead, he focused on understanding the basic formulas and theory from EduTap’s material. His aim was just to be able to solve the easy questions. If a question was too tough in the exam, he would make a smart guess or leave it.

This smart thinking helped Ravikiran clear the exam without taking too much pressure.

But there was one subject that had taught him a big lesson before.

Descriptive English Preparation for SEBI Grade A

A while ago, Ravikiran missed clearing the RBI exam just because of his low score in English. It was a painful experience. This time, he promised himself he would not let that happen. He knew English could make or break his dream.

So, what did he do? He started practicing. He wrote essays and showed them to people for feedback. He took mock tests for Descriptive English. He learned how to structure his essay properly, with an introduction, a body, and a nice conclusion. This regular practice gave him the confidence he needed.

After all this hard work, the final step was waiting for him.

SEBI Grade A Interview Experience

Many students get very scared of the interview. Ravikiran’s experience shows that it can be a friendly conversation. The interview panel was very calm. They didn’t ask him very difficult technical questions. Instead, they asked about him, his family, his education, and his work at SBI and MSME. They wanted to know him as a person.

One very important thing he did was take a mock interview at EduTap before the real one. This helped him a lot. It made him comfortable and taught him how to talk about his own life and work experience. During the real interview, if he didn’t know the answer, he honestly said, “Sir, I am not aware of this.” The panel appreciated his honesty.

So, don’t be scared of the interview. It is just a conversation to see if you are the right person for the job. Be honest, be yourself, and prepare well for questions about your own life.

So, after reading Ravikiran’s story, what should be your next step?

What You Can Do Now: As A Working Professional

Ravikiran’s story is not about being a superhero. It is the story of a normal student who felt confused and stuck, just like us. But he found his way with smart work, honesty, and the courage to not give up.

If you are feeling lost right now, just pause and breathe. Remember these simple things:

  1. Find Your ‘One Source’: Stop collecting notes. Find one guide you trust and stick to it. This will give you peace.
  2. Make a ‘Smart’ Plan: You don’t have to study everything equally. Give more time to what is difficult for you, and be confident in your strengths.
  3. Learn from Today: If you had a bad day, ask yourself, “What can I learn from this?” Every mistake is a teacher.
  4. Just Keep Walking: You don’t have to run. Just take one small step every day. Revise one chapter. Solve 10 questions. That’s enough.

Your journey is your own, and it is beautiful. There will be tough days, but there will also be days when you feel proud of yourself. Believe in your hard work, be kind to yourself, and just keep moving forward. One day, you will also be sharing your success story with others.

We at EduTap are always here to walk with you on this path. All the very best!
