Chartered Accountant Background and Early Motivation
Suvarna was a bright student, studying B.Com and also preparing for her Chartered Accountancy (CA) exams. Like many of us, she was just focused on her studies. But one day, something changed. She read about the Harshad Mehta scam and watched the series “Scam 1992.”
She became very curious about SEBI and its important job of protecting our country’s stock market. She thought, “Wow, this is such important work!”
That little curiosity made her search online, and she found some videos by Anchit Sir from EduTap. Listening to him made her dream even stronger. She decided, “I want to be a SEBI Grade A officer.”
But having a dream is one thing. The road to getting there was filled with big worries.
Managing CA Exams Alongside SEBI Grade A Preparation
Suvarna’s journey was not easy. She had a very big condition to meet first – she had to clear her CA exam to even be able to sit for the SEBI exam. This put a lot of pressure on her.
She had no backup plan. No other job. It was all or nothing. To add to her worries, the SEBI exam notification was not regular.
She was scared that she might clear her CA, but the exam might not even happen that year. All these thoughts can make anyone feel a little lost.
Suvarna knew she couldn’t just sit and worry. She had to make a real, smart plan.

Her SEBI Grade A Preparation
Now here’s where Suvarna really showed what smart preparation looks like.
SEBI Grade A Phase 1 Strategy for Weak Areas
Coming from a commerce background, Suvarna was very comfortable with Paper 2 subjects like Accountancy and Finance. But she knew her weak area was Paper 1, especially Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning.
Why? Because during her CA preparation, she was so used to using a calculator! Suddenly, she had to do calculations quickly in her head. This is a small problem, but it can make a big difference in the exam. She was honest with herself about this.
So, what did she do? She started preparing for General Awareness every single day, almost a year before the exam. And she practiced Quant and Reasoning regularly to get faster.
SEBI Grade A Phase 2 Strategy for Commerce Subjects
For Paper 2, her main challenge was not understanding the topics, but remembering everything. Especially for subjects like the Companies Act, there are so many small details!
So, she focused on revision. She used YouTube videos to cover the syllabus quickly and made her own notes. For subjects with numericals like Accountancy and Finance, she practiced a lot of problems.
“I knew the concepts, but I had to make sure I remembered them under pressure.”
But a plan is just a map. To walk the path, she needed a guide. Let’s see how she found the right help to make her plan real.

Role of EduTap in SEBI Grade A Preparation
Suvarna’s journey with EduTap started with those free YouTube videos she found online. But it soon became much more. She realised she needed a more structured way to prepare.
- For Practice: She joined EduTap’s live sessions to practice questions. This helped her improve her speed and accuracy.
- For Daily Revision: She became active on EduTap’s Telegram channel, taking part in the daily 15-minute quizzes. It was a fun and quick way to revise.
- For Personal Help: When she felt stuck in Economics, she reached out to her EduTap mentor. They had discussions right before the exam, which cleared her doubts.
“The best part was getting personalized guidance. It felt like someone was really there for me, from the very first day until the interview.”
This is what we at EduTap truly believe in. We are not just here to give you videos; we are here to be your friend and guide on this journey.
With her plan ready and the right support by her side, it was time to face the real test.

SEBI Grade A Interview Preparation and Mock Feedback
The final round, the interview, can be very scary. Suvarna faced a very experienced panel. For every answer she gave, they asked a challenging counter-question. They wanted to see how well she could handle pressure.
They asked her about complex topics like the Franklin Templeton crisis and the T+1 settlement cycle. But Suvarna was prepared, not just with knowledge, but with confidence. Why?
Because she had practiced with EduTap’s mock interview program. During one of her mock interviews, a panellist who was a real SEBI officer gave her some honest feedback. He said, “Suvarna, you are going there as a CA, so they expect polished answers from you.”
This one line changed everything. It helped her understand that she needed to be very precise and confident. That feedback helped her prepare for the real interview in the best way possible.
Suvarna’s journey is full of so many small, simple lessons that can help you too. Let’s put them all together.
Suvarna’s Message For You
Her advice is very simple and comes straight from her experience. She believes every student’s journey is different, but some things always help.
- Find your passion: She says passion is the fuel that keeps you going when you feel tired. Find your reason for wanting this job.
- Make your own strategy: Don’t just copy others. Make a plan that works for your strengths and weaknesses.
- Be ready for counter-questions: In the interview, for every point you make, be ready for them to ask you more about it.
- Confidence is everything: Even if you are nervous, try to answer with confidence. It shows you believe in yourself.
“Believe in your own unique journey. Your hard work will definitely pay off one day.”
