SIDBI Grade A Eligibility: Age Limit, Education, and Professional Experience

If you want to apply for the SIDBI Grade A exam, the very first step is to check whether you meet the eligibility requirements. SIDBI Grade A Age Eligibility: Age Limit & Relaxation 

The age requirement is the first filter. Below are the minimum and maximum age requirements:

• Minimum Age: 21 years
• Maximum Age: 30 years

SIDBI Grade A Age Relaxation

Reserved category candidates get age relaxation as per Government rules:

Example: If you are from the SC category and 30 years old as of the stipulated date, you are still eligible because you get a 5-year relaxation.

SIDBI Grade A Educational Qualification 

The eligibility for the SIDBI Grade A exam is broader than what many aspirants assume. You don’t necessarily need to be an engineer or lawyer; a range of academic backgrounds is accepted.

To apply, you must have any one of the following:

1. Bachelor’s Degree (minimum 60% marks, 50% for SC/ST/PwBD) in:
   • Commerce
   • Economics
   • Mathematics
   • Statistics
   • Business Administration
   • Engineering
2. Professional Certifications:
   • Company Secretary (CS)
   • Certified Management Accountant (CMA/ICWA)
   • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
3. Chartered Accountant (CA)
4. Two-year full-time MBA/PGDM in any discipline (from a UGC/Govt. recognised university/institution)
5. Graduation after Class XII with a 3-year duration (with minimum 60% marks, 50% for SC/ST/PwBD) if done from a UGC/Govt. recognised institute
6. Post-graduation of at least 2 years duration after graduation

Can Final-Year Students Apply for the SIDBI Grade A Exam?

Yes, final-year students can apply for the SIDBI Grade A exam. But there’s a catch.

If you’re in the last year of your degree or post-graduation, you’re allowed to sit for the exam. However, at the time of joining, you must submit:

• Your final mark sheet
• Your provisional or final degree certificate

Both must be original. If you fail to provide these documents, even after clearing the exam, your candidature will be cancelled.

So, while final-year students do get a chance, it comes with responsibility. Make sure your results are declared on time and you have the necessary paperwork ready before the joining date.

Work Experience Requirement for SIDBI Grade A

Unlike some exams where only a degree is enough, the SIDBI Grade A has a work experience clause for candidates. Here’s how it works:

1. No Experience Needed for CA or MBA/PGDM

If you have:

• Chartered Accountant (CA), or
• A two-year full-time MBA/PGDM (from a recognised institute)

Then you don’t need any prior work experience. You can apply directly after your degree.

2. Mandatory Experience for Other Qualifications

For all other educational backgrounds (like graduation in Commerce, Economics, Engineering, or PG degrees apart from MBA/PGDM), you must have:

• Minimum 2 years of post-qualification work experience

This experience should be in one of the following areas:

(A) Credit Dispensation Roles

• All India Financial Institutions (SIDBI, NABARD, NHB, EXIM Bank, NaBFID)
• Scheduled Commercial Banks (SCBs)
• RBI-registered NBFCs

Basically, jobs involving lending, credit appraisal, or loan disbursement.

(B) Core Functional Roles

• Investment or Merchant Banking (SEBI-registered firms)
• Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs) registered with SEBI
• Asset Reconstruction Companies (ARCs) registered with RBI
• MSME-focused subsidiaries of Scheduled Commercial Banks
• Project management in consultancy firms of national repute (especially with 10+ years’ work in government or digital lending projects)

These are specialised roles where you deal with finance, MSMEs, or high-level consulting.

3. Combined Experience

If your career spans across both categories (A) and (B), that’s also valid. For example, 1 year in a Scheduled Commercial Bank + 1 year in an ARC would meet the 2-year requirement.

Nationality Requirements for SIDBI Grade A 2025

To apply for the SIDBI Grade A Assistant Manager exam, candidates must satisfy the nationality criteria laid down in the notification. Only the following categories are eligible:

1. Citizen of India – Must hold a valid Indian citizenship.
2. Subjects of Nepal or Bhutan – Can apply, provided they meet all eligibility conditions.
3. Tibetan Refugees – Who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling here.
4. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from the following countries with the intent to permanently settle in India:
   • Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka
   • East African countries: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam

• Please note that candidates falling under categories 2, 3, and 4 must hold a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India and without this certificate, even if you qualify the exam, you will not be allowed to join SIDBI.

Attempts Allowed for the SIDBI Grade A Exam

Unlike exams such as UPSC or RBI, the SIDBI Grade A exam does not have a fixed attempt limit. 

Candidates can appear for the exam any number of times as long as they meet the prescribed age limit and eligibility criteria.

Key Points to Remember:

• There is no restriction on attempts in the official notification.
• The only condition is that you must satisfy the age limit at the time of application.
• Educational qualifications and work experience (where applicable) must be fulfilled each time you apply.

This makes the SIDBI Grade A more flexible than some other competitive exams. Aspirants who start early can keep trying until they cross the maximum age limit.
