On 29 July 2025, Union Public Service Commission released the advertisement for the recruitment of 230 vacancies. This includes 74 vacancies for Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner (APFC) and 156 vacancies for Enforcement Officer/Accounts Officer (EO/AO).

On 4 September 2025, UPSC officially announced the UPSC EPFO 2025 exam date which is 30 November 2025.

UPSC EPFO Vacancies 2025 for EO/AO and APFC

UPSC has announced a total of 230 vacancies (156 EO/AO and 74 APFC vacancies). These vacancies are distributed among various categories.

*Out of a total of 156 EO/AO vacancies, 9 vacancies are reserved for candidates belonging to the category of Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD).

*Out of a total of 74 EO/AO vacancies, 3 vacancies are reserved for candidates belonging to the category of Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD).

UPSC EPFO Eligibility Criteria 2025

EO/AO and APFC exam eligibility criteria include age limit and educational qualification. Here is a quick way to check your eligibility for the UPSC EPFO exam. 

Age Limit & Relaxation 2025

• Age for the EO/AO and APFC exams is calculated as of the last date for submission of the online application, which is 18 August 2025.
• There is no minimum age mentioned in the official notification. 
• The maximum age limit for EO/AO posts for the unreserved/general category is 30 years.
• The maximum age limit for APFC posts for the unreserved/general category is 35 years.

Education Qualification 2025

Here is the minimum educational qualification required to apply for the 2025 exams:

EO/AO: According to the EO/AO notification, a bachelor’s degree in any subject from a recognized university or institute is the minimum educational qualification required to be eligible to apply for the EO/AO exam.

APFC: Here are the essential and desirable educational qualifications required to be eligible for the APFC exam, as per the official APFC notification:

• Essential: Degree from a recognized University or equivalent
• Desirable: Diploma in Company Law/Labour Laws/Public Administration

UPSC EPFO Exam Pattern 2025

The selection process of the EO/AO and APFC 2025 exam includes 2 stages: 

• Phase 1 (Recruitment Test): An Offline Exam (Pen & Paper Based) consisting of Objective Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

• Phase 2 (Interview): Assesses your subject knowledge, communication skills, and overall personality.

• Phase 1, also known as a recruitment test (RT), is an objective-type test conducted in offline mode.
• It lasts 2 hours and carries a total of 300 marks.
• The test consists of 120 questions, each carrying 2.5 marks.
• Negative marking applies, with a deduction of 1/3rd of a mark for every incorrect answer.

EO/AO & APFC Pattern 2025

Here is the EO/AO & APFC exam pattern:

• Phase 1, also known as a recruitment test (RT), is an objective-type test conducted in offline mode.
• It lasts 2 hours and carries a total of 300 marks.
• The test consists of 120 questions, each carrying 2.5 marks.
• Negative marking applies, with a deduction of 1/3rd of a mark for every incorrect answer.

• Phase 2 carries a total of 100 marks, and there is a category-wise minimum cut-off, which is
  • 50 marks for UR/General/EWS
  • 45 marks for OBC
  • 40 marks for SC/ST/PH

Important Note: In 2023, the syllabus for the EO/AO exam was a subset of the APFC syllabus, with the APFC syllabus including all the topics of EO/AO plus some additional topics. However, in the 2025 notification, there is no such bifurcation. Both the EO/AO and APFC exams now share the same syllabus, covering the same topics.

How to Apply for UPSC EPFO Online

Follow the steps below to apply for the EO/AO and APFC exams.

Step 1: Visit the UPSC Website

Visit the official website of the Union Public Service Commission. 

Step 2: Complete Registration

Complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) process by providing your basic details to create an account.

Step 3: Log in with Your Credentials

Log in with your registration ID and password received after OTR completion.

Step 4: Fill in the Application Form

Fill in the personal, educational, and professional details in the online registration form.

Step 5: Upload Required Documents

Submit a scanned copy of a recent photograph, signature, and any other specified certificates.

Step 6: Review & Submit Application

Thoroughly review your application, pay the required fees, and submit the application form.

Step 7: Download/Print Application

After submitting the application form, you can download and take its print out for future reference.  

Important Note: You only need to fill out one application form for both the EO/AO and APFC exams. During the application process, you will have the option to select either one of the exams or both.

UPSC EPFO Application Fee 2025

You can pay the EO/AO and APFC 2025 application fee by:

• Paying the money in any branch of the SBI in cash
• Using the net banking facility of any bank
• Using Visa/Master/Rupay/Credit/Debit Card/UPI payment 

UPSC EPFO 2025 Admit Card

After the notification 2025 is released and the application window is closed, the UPSC will issue the EPFO Admit Card/Call Letter for each stage separately on its official website, www.upsc.gov.in.

These admit cards will be available online only. 

UPSC EPFO 2025 Result

Based on previous cycles, the results for the written exam are typically declared 3-4 weeks after the exam.

The final result is announced within 1-2 months after interviews. Candidates can check results through the steps below:

1. Visit the official UPSC website at www.upsc.gov.in. 
2. Navigate to the “Examinations” tab on the homepage and click on it.
3. Select “Active Examinations” from the drop-down menu.
4. Locate and click on the “UPSC EPFO Exam 2025” link.
5. Click on the result link for the specific stage (e.g., Written Test or Final Result).
6. A PDF file containing the list of selected candidates will open.
7. Use Ctrl+F to search for your roll number or name in the PDF.
