ESIC Deputy Director Age Limit and Relaxation

Your age limit for the ESIC Deputy Director exam will be calculated as of the last date for submission of the online application.

  • Minimum: No limit
  • Maximum: 35 years (General/Unreserved category)

Can all Central/UT Government Employees Claim Age Relaxation?

No. To claim age relaxation for the ESIC DD exam, you must have completed at least 3 years of continuous service in the Central or UT Government.

What are the Conditions for Ex-servicemen to be Eligible for Age Relaxation?

To avail age relaxation, Ex-servicemen and Commissioned Officers (including ECOs/SSCOs) must meet the following conditions:

  1. Ex-servicemen must have completed at least 6 months of continuous Armed Forces service after attestation.
  2. ECOs/SSCOs must have completed their initial 5-year service, and their service must have been extended beyond 5 years.
  3. The Ministry of Defence must issue a certificate confirming that they will be released within 3 months if selected.

UPSC ESIC Deputy Director Educational Qualifications

Are There Any Minimum Marks Criteria for the ESIC DD Exam?

No. There are no minimum marks required. You only need a degree in any discipline with relevant work experience.

Are You Eligible for ESIC DD with Distance Education?

Yes. UPSC does not mention any rule against distance or open-university degrees. As long as you have a valid degree in any discipline with relevant work experience, you are eligible for the ESIC DD 2026 exam.

UPSC ESIC Deputy Director Eligibility Criteria: Nationality

Indian citizens are eligible to apply for the ESIC Deputy Director exam. However, UPSC also permits candidates from the following categories to apply: 

  • a subject of Nepal, or
  • a subject of Bhutan, or
  • a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  • a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

If you belong to any of the above mentioned nationalities other than Indian, you need a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India to apply.

Can UPSC ESIC Deputy Director Eligibility Change?

Yes, UPSC has the authority to revise or update the eligibility criteria for the ESIC DD exam. Any changes, if made, will be clearly mentioned in the official notification.
